We held the first training session part of the ““Youth for Truth – Media Education to Combat Electoral Disinformation in Lezha” program supported by
#SEECheck, a program designed to equip young people and professionals with critical skills to identify and combat misinformation.
In this session, journalists Esiona Konomi and Osman Stafa shared insights on:
– Who produces fake news, and how are facts manipulated?
– How to verify sources and understand the media’s role in reflecting reality?
– The misuse of logos and advertisements – how does the market influence news reporting?
– Real-life cases of fake news and their impact on society.
In an era where artificial intelligence, among other factors, makes it easier to manipulate information, it is essential to develop critical mechanisms to distinguish between truth and propaganda.
How can we protect ourselves?
– Be cautious of sensational headlines.
– Analyze sources and follow reliable media outlets.
– Compare news across different media platforms and verify facts.
This session was only the first step – the upcoming sessions will help us become more conscious consumers of information, safeguard the truth in the media space, and better understand misinformation and disinformation in elections.
