As part of the winter school “Integration into the EU and the Role of Youth in this Process,” the final session with lecturers was held on the topic “The Impact of Corruption in Society.” This session was led by activist architect Migen Qiraxhiu.
In session #5, participants discussed the challenges and significance of this phenomenon. Key questions were posed to deepen the understanding of corruption, including its definition, the importance of discussing it, the damage it causes, and why it must be fought. Mr. Qiraxhiu also explained the different types of corruption, guiding us through the distinctions between systematic corruption, petty corruption, and political corruption.
A key part of the session was the presentation of the “Trolley Dilemma,” designed to provoke reflection on the morality of certain behaviors and where our integrity lies. The discussion also included analysis of ethical dilemmas, such as the JeSuisCharlie case, as well as everyday situations like cheating on exams and offering bribes during medical visits.
Corruption is a broad and complex topic, but through this session, we gained insights into its impact on society and ways to combat it. Participants were encouraged to start addressing corruption within their immediate environment and to spread awareness of integrity in the broader community.
