Re: Waste (an abbreviation of the phrase “Rethinking waste”) started the journey through the inauguration and opening of the exhibition in the presence of a multitude of decision makers and decision-influencers!
Some time ago, H.A.N.A requested the cooperation of the Swedish Embassy to bring to Lezha the Swedish model of waste management, which must be said, is among the most advanced in the world. It is also the interest of this country to contribute to the reduction of unfriendly practices to global shared natural resources.
Under the care of H.A.N.A center, the exhibition which presents the Swedish model in 11 panels or installations, brought together in Lezha, on the opening day, the Swedish Ambassador in Albania, Mrs. Elsa Håstad, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro, the Mayor of Lezha, Mr. Pjerin Ndreu and the representative of “Strong Municipalities” for Lezha Region, Mr. Hekuran Koka in a panel moderated by the representatives of H.A.N.A.
The panel of speakers did not stop with the analysis of the Swedish model of waste management in a closed cycle but dra] a parallel with the current situation of municipal waste management in Lezha and ways to make progress in this regard through concrete cooperation commitments through the contribution of the parties.
H.A.N.A reminds that through successful negotiations with the Municipality of Lezha has piloted in the period June-December ’21 a model of waste differentiation in 2 buildings of Lezha (130 + 131) because, as confirmed by the panel, everything starts with understanding the need for source sorting of municipal waste.
Invited to the discussion and visitors of the exhibition were important representatives operating in the environmental and educational sector in Lezha and beyond, mentioning in particular the presence of education leaders (DRAP & ZVAP), our permanent partners.
Exhibition Re: Waste had its starting point on this day but continues its journey in 6 schools of Lezha in the following days and weeks to invite the youth of Lezha in the environmental awareness cause through understanding how waste could affects everyday lives for the better if mindfully managed.
