With the Municipality of Lezhe we started piloting the model of waste separation at source in a controlled terrain. The infrastructure consisting of differentiated bins is already in place. The pilot area of the model are Buildings 131 and 132 in Str. “Luigj Gurakuqi, Lezha.
If we failed to implement successfully this approach throughout the entire territory, would that be the case if we deliberately invested in a controlled limited area? We refuse to be influenced by pessimistic thoughts that say that the approach of differentiation and recycling will never work in Albania!
We want to be part of the EU but the latter requires each member state to recycle at least 55% of household waste each year. If we do not put aside skepticism and do not invest collectively in this goal, it will take many decades to achieve it along with our dream of EU membership.
We are not the exception; we are just in our first steps!
