Today, some of our young people from the winter school “Introduction to Politics and European Integration”, supported by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, had a study visit to the Municipality of Lezha, Directorate of European Integration, Transparency and Communication. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the specific role of this directorate and how it contributes to the advancement of European values in Lezha. To the question of Our Lady, about the duties of the directorate staff, its director, Mr. Elson Frroku answered that the duties go beyond the job description on paper by engaging with plans to involve young people in social and political life. Klaudia was interested in how these plans are put into practice, learning that a major part of the staff work was applying for EU-funded projects, although not everyone successfully passes the application. Kiara, in her speech, paralleled between the situation in Germany and its rapid recovery after the collapse from World War II to a world superpower, the result of which Albania never approached you because, according to her, lacking decision-making discipline of power. Young people learned about the EU Corner at this directorate. A concern raised was that of the institution’s budget dedicated to youth. For 2021, the value was mentioned to be 500’000 ALL, while it was quoted that there was no fund dedicated to youth in the Municipality budget earlier! Sindorela expressed her concern about the dilemma of staying / leaving the country towards higher opportunities for the development of personal potential, being direct in her intention to be informed about the ways the institution works to keep the youth in their country.
