At H.A.N.A Center, one of the days of the past week was dedicated to the national poet Át Gjergj Fishta, as one of the central and most versatile figures of our nation.
We gathered to discuss his multidimensional activity (clerical, literary, artistic, political and diplomatic), since his role and contribution in the aforementioned fields is a cornerstone in raising Albanian consciousness.
As we examined his life and activities, it is clearly present the purest form of patriotism, which Át Fishta demonstrated by working tirelessly on the pro-Western (intellectual and cultural) formation of the early 20th century Albanian.
This was also his ideal, which he expressed by saying: “It is enough for me that my efforts reach the goal, that is, to educate the public, encourage them towards progress and patriotism”.
Át Fishta’s entire life journey highlights the power of education and knowledge sharing. His desire to see the Albanian culture as it travels alongside the great cultures of Western Europe, always encouraged it to open a window towards this path with his political-cultural activity, making Át Gjergj Fishta a passport for our European identity.
Át Gjergj Fishta has left us a rich and extraordinary cultural legacy, so even today, his work and model should serve to inspire the generations that follow, encouraging in them a sense of unity and belonging, which embodies the spirit of going forward in the Europeanization of our country relying on the best values of our nation.
