In our political education program, now in its 4th edition, we have been behind on updates for our virtual audiences. Despite this, we continue to meet every week with our young people and explore different topics with one axis – the European integration of the country and the European Union.
This time, we talked about the origins, about the beginnings of the EU in the difficult historical period when it became clear that only a union of forces could save Europe from wars and conflicts.
EU – FROM 6 TO 28, THEN TO 27!
From the Treaty of Rome 1957, to that of Lisbon 2009).
“The pooling of coal and steel production… will change the destinies of those regions which have long been devoted to the manufacture of munitions of war, of which they have been the most constant victims.” – Robert Schuman, Foreign Minister of France, May 9, 1950 (the Schuman Declaration – the reason why we celebrate Europe Day today on May 9).
In our experience with this program, we have also shaped the most suitable methodology for our participants, so we made sure that this session was not an extension of school hours, but a dynamic group work, historical journey through animated videos and team presentations.
So, to our aid came the animated visual works, extremely valuable produced from: European Economic and Trade Office of the EU
Educator and influencer CGP (Colin Gregory Palmer) Gray and 3
The Open University (the largest research university in Britain)
And of course, we did not forget to add the educational and interactive games to create cohesion and trusting relations in a heterogeneous group of young people who now have the synergy and impulses necessary to function as a team.
