Addressing Key Issues in Education
During this meet up the young participants discussed the level of support provided by the municipality to meet the needs of local schools, emphasizing its direct role and responsibility. The role of parents was also highlighted, focusing on their contributions and the challenges they face in supporting schools.
A significant concern raised during the discussion was the prevalence of political promotion in schools. Data revealed that 26 out of 34 schools under the jurisdiction of ZVAP Lezha—over 83% of the total—promote political figures and achievements unrelated to educational activities. This was deemed a serious issue and an inappropriate use of official school platforms, undermining the principle of neutrality in education.
To address this issue, it was decided to submit a formal request to the Regional Directorate of Pre-University Education (DRAP) and the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth to curb the politicization of school online platforms. Should the relevant institutions fail to respond, the issue will be escalated to the Commissioner for the Right to Information for further action.
The meeting was both constructive and decisive, aiming to tackle two fundamental problems in education: the need for sustainable support from the municipality and the preservation of neutrality in schools’ official platforms.
