As part of the Remembrance Days, e few days ago, an event entitled “To Not Forget” occurred at H.A.N.A Center; a crash between two generations that have seen two different worlds/realities of our Albania!
In the discussion raised from present youth’s questions, addressed to the meeting guests, their amazement at the answers emerged, as if they had been confronted with a horror film script rather than a reality of just a few decades (3) years ago.
The cure theory says that at least 2 times the time of the catastrophic event must pass for the healing process to occur. This means that we still have a lot to deal with the consequences of the Hoxha dictatorship in our country.
Citing Prof. Ass. Dr. Progress Kabo, in anthropology (study of humans) 3 generations coexist in a given period, one generation will take 25 years to form. We entered democracy with 2 generations from the past and one from the future. These young people, for the most part, are the third generation. Conflict of mentality and worldviews between generations is inevitable. This is why they know almost nothing about the reality of the dictatorship in Albania and why, except for those who have suffered at the expense of persecution, imprisonment, extermination, can not tell the truth of the system.
In cooperation between IDMC and the Anti-Communist Association of the Politically Persecuted – Lezha branch, under the direction of the President Mr. Anton Kolziu and the Secretary of the Association, Mr. Bardhok Ndreca, with guests Mr. Gjergj Lekaj, had an extensive discussion with stories and events from their own evocations of the dark period.
